Board Comments:

The Board Members questions included: whether the wood flooring would be retained, whether there is wooden flooring under the tile, if parking spaces will be located in the basement, if the bricks will be waterproofed, the floor to ceiling height for the penthouse, whether the elevator will go above the penthouse level, whether the entrance and exit gates will be locked, whether a security guard will be provided. A Board Member also asked if the metal frame of the drill court roof would be treated or could it be weatherproofed. A Board Member suggested that the proposed penthouses may be too large and that the proposed infill in the drill court may not be compatible because it appears to be a demolition due to the loss of the historic fabric. Will the brick wall around the drill court needs structural upgrading and if the project sponsors had looked into fiber reinforced polymers or structural wallpaper for the terracotta tile. A Board Member recommended displaying a historic plaque and artifacts on the history of the building. One Board member suggested that this may be an inappropriate project, an inappropriate solution, and unfriendly for residential use.
