Planning Staff:

                                                i        He introduced Rachel Force, who joined the Planning Department as a planning intern.  She will be working on the comprehensive citywide survey.

i         Reminder - January 4, 2006 hearing will be cancelled, the next schedule meeting will be on January 18, 2006

4.        LANDMARKS WORK PROGRAM 2005-2006 UPDATE

                        Planning Staff:

i         The staff will review 1620 Montgomery Street and bring their recommendations to the Board.  Suggested a review and comment hearing.

i         Suggested scheduling the hearing in January 2006.  She would also like a meeting with the Ashbury Landmark Project sponsor.

900 Minnesota Street, C. Schilling & Co. Wine Cellars Complex, the northern portion of the City block bounded by 20th Street, Minnesota Street, 22nd Street and Indiana Street.  Assessor’s Block 4106, Lot 027 – Request for Certificate of Appropriateness to demolish four structures, partially demolish and rehabilitate a fifth structure, alter and rehabilitate a sixth structure, and construct six new structures; the resultant project would include up to 142 dwellling units, approximately 168 off-street parking spaces, approximately 6,300 square feet of office space, and approximately 2,100 square feet of restaurant / commercial use, configured around two inner courtyards.  The subject property is contributory to the Dogpatch Historic District.  (Note:  Continued from the December 7, 2005 landmarks Board Hearing.) Preliminary Recommendation:  Approval   (M. SNYDER)

      80 Hill Street, north side between Guerrero Street and Valencia Street, Block 058, Lot 3617 – Request for Certificate of Appropriateness to legalize and reconfigure a rear deck that is approximately five-feet above grade.  The subject property is a non-contributory structure to the Liberty Hill Historic District and is within an RH-3 (House, Three-family) District and a 40-X Height and Bulk District.  Preliminary Recommendation:  Approval       (M. SNYDER)

Action:            It was moved by Member Martinez (seconded by Damkroger) to recommend approval of the Certificate of Appropriateness with conditions.           The vote was unanimous.

Informational Presentation

 

        7.              INNER MISSION NORTH CULTURAL RESOURCE SURVEY AREA 3

                        Moses Corrette, Preservation Staff

                        An informational presentation and update of the Inner Mission North (IMN) survey.  The next phase of the survey will include the initiation of a reconnaissance-level survey that will include approximately 400 resources in Area 3 of the Inner Mission North Survey.  The scope of the survey includes the preparation of DPR 523A-descriptive forms.  Area 3 is a continuation of the ongoing survey efforts in the Mission conducted by the Planning Department since 2001.  The Inner Mission North Survey area is bound by 17th and 18th Streets to the north, Shotwell Street to the east, 20th Street on the south, and Valencia Street on the west; and includes portions of the following blocks:  3568, 3576, 3577, 3588, 3589, 3590, 3591, 3594, 3595, 3596, and 3597.

Review and Comment

 

  1. CITYWIDE CULTURAL RESOURCES SURVEY PROGRAM

This fiscal year (2005-2006), the Planning Department has received line item funding from the Board of Supervisors to identify areas in San Francisco to be surveyed under the Department’s Citywide Cultural Resources Survey Program (Citywide Survey).  The scope of this program is to generate historical documentation of neighborhoods and individual buildings, as well as historical contexts that will ultimately be used to evaluate significance and inform the planning process.  The Planning Department is seeking the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board’s comments on a proposed project outline and proposed scope for request for proposals.
